Sneak Peek - Graduation

Here is a mini haul of the supplies I have gathered, thus far, for my graduation! I'm so excited to finally fulfill one of my most dearest goals in life, and that is to obtain a college degree!!!

In honor of this accomplishment, I will be having a celebration with all of my loved ones that have supported me through this journey.

Let's move on with the items I have picked up!

Below is a picture of my graduation invitations and thank you cards! I have always believed that taking the time to thank everyone that took the time to attend your event, deserves a little appreciation. Writing them a little thank you not will always brighten anyone's day.

Party City - $7.99 ea.

Next is the fun/decorative stuff!

I picked up these simple picture frames because I want to create my own chalkboards with inspirational quotes to place all around my venue. I thought these were perfect for my modern event.

Dollar Tree - $1.00 ea.

Unfortunately (or fortunately) these frames have no stand attached to the back of them, therefore I also picked up these cute gold easels! Luckily for me, my schools colors contain black and gold, so it worked out!

Dollar Tree - $1.00 ea.

Lastly, I wanted to create a sign in "book" idea for all of our guests. I found this really cute idea of having them write suggestions/thoughts/anything on a rock and placing it into a clear glass jar! I fell in love with this idea because it can easily be a home decor piece (but a bit more meaningful)! Due to this idea, I purchased black river rocks big enough for creative messages.

Dollar Tree - $1.00 ea. bag

This is the end of this mini haul but I will continue to update you all with any new items that I put together for my event!

Movie Night

In 2007 the most amazing movie came out in theaters around the world! The movie that I could, 'til this day, watch a million times and never get bored or tired of it. This movie is 300!!!! The Greek and the Persians battling it out for what they believe in, and wow is it an action movie.

So if any of my viewers have not watched this movie, please make sure to set some time this weekend for this wonderfully crafted film!

In addition, today (7 years later), a second movie is released: 300: Rise of an Empire! I watched it yesterday and I was sooo thrilled. After coming out of the theater, I was a bit disappointed because many of the scenes seemed totally computerized (more so than the first movie). The concept, story line, and action was all there, but the graphics were pretty "weak". I would rate this second movie a 7 out of 10 for those reasons.

I am still a huge fan of the movie and if they came out with more, I will be the first one in line waiting for it!

Hello March!

Wow is this year flying by, or what? We have officially started our third month of the year, and it seems as if I just celebrated the new year yesterday. I have so many things going on this month and I cant wait to share them with you all.

First thing first, Happy Birthday to all you beautiful March babies! Also, SPRING is almost here, which only means that Summer is around the corner (my FAV season)!!!

This month is one of the busiest one for me (until May 2014 arrives). I have a family game night/dinner, my brother-in-law and his wife's baby shower, and the famous Breakfast at Tiffany's bridal shower that I have been prepping for in honor of my soon-to-be sister-in-law!

I cannot wait to continue showing you all of the stuff that we put together for the bridal shower AND my graduation party!!!

I will post a mini haul of recent purchases that I have made for these events. Please stay tuned my lovely viewers!

DIY: Paper Rose Garland

I have been in the mood of crafting and what better way to do it, than to do it for an event that I am helping to plan!

Below are the supplies you will need to recreate this garland.

You will need:
-Card stock paper (any color)
-A pair of scissors
-Hot glue gun
-Extra glue
-Ribbon (any color)

Let's get started!

Step 1: We are going to cut an 8 1/2 x 11 paper in half, then in 2/3, and then the last 1/3 in half. The photo below defines what I stated.

Step 2: We are going to take the squares that we cut and cut them into a circle shape.

These circles do not have to be perfect, the imperfections play a key role on how realistic they will look later on!

Step 3: We will then cut these circles into swirls!

Again, keep in mind that these swirls do not have to be evenly cut!

Step 4: Starting from the tip of the swirl, roll the paper as shown below.

Once you're done with the 4th step, you should end up with a rose that looks like this:

Step 5: the center of our swirl is a round flat part that will serve as the base of our flower. Using a hot glue gun, glue the bottom of the rose to the swirls so that the paper does not begin to unroll.

Now we have created our rose!

Make sure to make plenty of them because you will need it for the garland!

GARLAND

Step 1: we will need to collect 3 tiny roses, any color of your choice, and glue them together using the hot glue gun

Step 2: Glue the back of the roses and stick it onto your choice of ribbon. I decided to use black, appropriate for the theme of my event!

Make sure you set a scale of how separate you will be flying your flowers onto the ribbon. I decided on 6 inches because I wanted to emphasize the black ribbon.

OPTIONAL

Feel free to make it your own by adding gems, sparkle, or anything else you can think of!

I decided on adding a bit of rhinestones to the center of a few flowers! I'm in love with it and I cannot wait to display it at the "Breakfast at Tiffany's" bridal shower next month!

Baby Elephants

As promised, below are some photos from the baby shower that I semi-hosted last weekend. Hope you all enjoy the small details that we all put together!

As favors, we put together two different goodies in clear plastic bags. This first one is a Mexican candy called Mazapan. We thought it was a cute idea since they are primarily made from peanuts!

This second bag, we clearly filled with, both salted and unsalted, peanuts!

For the baby shower games, we decided to have an "activity table" for the guests to quickly join in on the fun before taking a seat!

Games displayed on the table:

How many peanuts?
Baby bingo
Who did it?
Don't say "baby"
Diaper raffle

Lastly, no party is complete without a candy/dessert table! Here are a couple of pictures of the candy bar displayed at this baby shower.

And a more detailed picture of the cupcakes!

Now that the first event of the year is done, I am moving on to the next one. I will be co-hosting a "Breakfast at Tiffany's" themed bridal shower at the end of March. I hope you all stay tuned to continue to go through these event planning adventures with me!

Serenity

Getting home from school or work, I always like to relax for about half an hour. I think it is critical for our mind and body to take a breather and truly let the information that we learned set in before we start on homework or any other task.

My form of relaxing is getting in bed, turning on the television (usually on Say Yes to the Dress) and burn a candle! Below is a snapshot of a corner of my vanity!

Please comment below if you would like to see the decorative accents that I have around my house/room!

Little Peanut

I have always aspired to be a wedding and event planning coordinator, which is why I am up for decorating any theme or event. My first event of the year is a baby shower and I am eager to show you all what I've been working on!

The theme is elephants and the colors I had to work with are aqua, navy blue, yellow and gray. With the help of my friends sister, we managed to recreate three different centerpieces that we found on Pinterest.

Below are both the inspiration and our actual centerpiece with the items we used to make them.

INSPIRATION

OUR VERSION

The stand is made up of round piece of wood, a 3/4" diameter wooden stick, two metal hooks and half of a 6" cylinder ball. Clearly, the clothing that you display is optional, but we're putting different outfits that fit the theme!

INSPIRATION

OUR VERSION

We used shelled peanuts, cake pop sticks, clay pots, paint, green foam, 6" cylinder foam, and zigzag paper strips

INSPIRATIN

OUR VERSION

We used a yellow lantern, small basket, yarn, long stick, green foam, TY elephant, and peanuts (not shown here)

We clearly had to make some changes to our inspirations to fit the theme, but I think we did a great job at being crafty and playing around with new ideas.

The event is this Saturday, so I will have more photos for you all to see! Next on my calendar is.....a "Brealfast at Tiffany's" themed bridal shower!!!

Stay tuned my loved ones!
